NA President Reports the Fruitful Result of ASEP11 Meeting to the 13th Asia-Europe Summit

Phnom Penh: The National Assembly President Heng Samrin has reported to the 13th Asia-Europe Summit on Thursday that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the 11th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting was successfully held virtually and has fruitful results. It was participated by 31 ASEM member countries from both continents, and a total of more than 170 delegates, including the President, Vice-Chairmen and Members of Parliament, and key ASEP partners.

The Co-Chair of the 11th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (AEPM) has emphasized that the ASEP11 meeting on 16 November was a testament to the commitment and importance of the role of Members of the Parliaments in the ASEM process. ASEP11 unanimously adopted 38 declarations addressing the region's common challenges and proposing policy proposals to address them in common interests of both regions as well as the world as a whole.

 Mr. Heng Samrin has informed the Asia-Europe Meeting that ASEP11 highlighted the value of peace, multilateral international law and conflict prevention mechanisms as an important way to resolve conflicts and disputes. He has also stressed the role of MPs in facilitating discussions and promoting mutual trust and understanding.
